Stora Färgen

The area’s largest lake with abundant stocks of pike, perch, and zander. Perfect for sport fishing.

  • Pike, Perch, Zander
  • 678 ha
  • Max depth: 17m
  • Boat ramp available

This is the largest lake in the area with an area of 678 hectares. The lake has a maximum depth of about 17 meters and an average depth of about 4 meters. It contains several islands of varying sizes. In the north, the lake is drained by the Färgeån river, which is 2.6 km long and empties into the Nissan river. The lake’s water inflows come from the Gasbboån river in the northeast and from Mellan Färgen in the south.

  • Zander fishing in the lake is often very good; its varied bottom structure has made the lake popular for both vertical jigging and trolling. Zander of about 6 kg are caught every year.
  • Pike fishing is best in the shallower parts and in the outlet down to the Färgeån river.
  • Perch fishing should be done near the shore and the rocky shoals, but don’t forget to visit some of the submerged branches scattered in the lake.
