Holmsjön

Holmsjön is the smallest lake in the area but offers very good fishing for perch and pike

Holmsjön is the smallest lake in our fishery management area, but despite being just over 100 hectares, it should not be underestimated. This is a very fine lake for fishing for both perch and pike. Although the fish may not always be the largest, there are certainly many of them. Holmsjön is a relatively shallow lake with a maximum depth of about 3 meters. The lake is characterized by an abundance of rocks and reeds throughout, which is likely the reason why fishing for pike and perch is so good here.

Holmsjön is the smallest lake within our fishery management area, with an area of just over 100 hectares. The lake is relatively shallow, with a maximum depth of about 3 meters. Its character is defined by a widespread presence of rocks and reeds, creating excellent habitats for fish. Despite its size, Holmsjön is a highly regarded lake for perch and pike fishing, where the quantity of fish is often impressive.

  • Spin fishing: Very effective for both pike and perch along reed edges, rocky areas, and in openings in the vegetation.

  • Bait fishing: Works great for perch, especially near rocks and clumps of reeds.

  • Fly fishing: Can be effective for pike in the shallower and vegetation-rich areas.

  • Spring (April-May): Excellent for pike as they are active in the shallower, vegetation-rich parts after spawning.

  • Summer (June-August): Good perch fishing, especially during early mornings and late evenings.

  • Autumn (September-October): Pike fishing is often at its best, and perch are very active.

  • Winter (ice fishing): Popular for perch and pike when ice conditions permit.
